As most of the country was sweltering yesterday, with the temperature in London higher than in Bangkok, NHS Direct received 378 calls from people suffering symptoms related to the heat. 昨天，英国多数地区闷热难当，伦敦的气温甚至比曼谷还高。NHS因此接到378个电话，都和热浪袭击有关。

想象一下又闷又热的感觉，就是sweltering，Wiktionary上是这么说的：(of weather) hot and humid; oppressively sticky。
