第13课（May 11, 2009）我们学过“Cassandra” ，源于希腊神话中的女预言家。今天这个词也来自希腊神话，Nemesis是冷酷无情的复仇女神。

Yoshida’s rule came to an end in 1954 when he was unseated as prime minister by his nemesis, Ichiro Hatoyama. 1954年日本首相吉田茂被强硬对手鸠山一郎赶下台。“nemesis”是“主要敌人（an archenemy），强硬对手（an opponent that cannot be beaten or overcome）”。

吉田茂（Shigeru Yoshida）是日本现任首相麻生太郎的外祖父。据预测，麻生领导的自民党去日无多，在8月30日即将举行的大选中会败给在野的民主党，结束54年日本政坛的统治生涯。鸠山一郎（Ichiro Hatoyama）是自民党首位党魁，他的孙子鸠山由纪夫为现任民主党党魁。（From The Economist, July 16, 2009: End of the line for the LDP）
