Wiktionary对vet的解释是：to thoroughly check or investigate particularly with regard to providing formal approval。

Vet本意是兽医或进行兽医检查，表示“审查”时用于政治、媒体、软件、金融等行业(参见Wikipedia)。注意这里的审查不是看政治是否正确、是否主旋律。
